Sylvandale has started another tradition: Yosemite Science Camp. Due to the efforts of Ms. Cevallos and Miss Frost, seventh and eight graders are now given the opportunity to hike and commune with nature in the beautiful scenery of Yosemite Valley. There they learn about the wonders of nature under the guidance of experienced naturalists. Students visit waterfalls, caves, lakes, and mountain trails. Students stay in tent cabins and eat nurturing meals at the camp buffet. The ultimate goal of the Science Camp is to teach what it means to be a good steward to the earth. By studying science, math, and related subjects through outdoor experiences, students can connect to their environment and become good stewards of the earth's natural resources.
