I have been teaching at Sylvandale since 2008. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to work with both 7th and 8th graders across all of the core subject areas. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. While growing up in Chicago, I volunteered as a peer tutor at the middle school and high school. In college, I pursued my interest in math and science by studying engineering at Stanford University. For several years after college, I worked in the computer industry. Even there, one of my favorite parts of the job was helping my co-workers by providing training and mentoring. After doing some soul-searching, I left industry to become a teacher. I still enjoy taking classes on a variety of topics, particularly music, history, medicine, and linguistics. I also love theater, art, and travel. As a teacher, I hope to encourage students in pursuing their interests, developing a love of life-long learning, and building their confidence for success in school and beyond.
