About Me: Chelsie Mendoza

I am Chelsie Mendoza and it is an honor to be a part of the Sylvandale Family! With over 16 years of experience, I have had the extreme pleasure of teaching English in the Franklin-McKinley School District for 11 of them. My career with FMSD began at Bridges Academy, but has now landed me at Sylvandale Middle School where I am truly enjoying representing for the home of the Bears!

Born and raised in Southern California, I lived a mere three miles away from the “Happiest Place on Earth”- Disneyland! So to answer most inquiring minds’ questions: No, I didn’t go all the time, and yes- I eventually became a season pass holder. But get this - I still didn’t end up going all the time. Go figure! Growing up, I enjoyed my time with my parents and two brothers whether we were at a restaurant, a family party, or just hanging out at home. During my college years in SoCal, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from CSU Fullerton and my English teaching credential from National University.

Now as a resident of the Bay Area for over a decade, I enjoy the many adventures and opportunities that this half of the state has to offer. Relocating here has blessed me with meeting my husband, Ben. As a couple, we serve our community through our church as members of the leadership staff and the worship team. Personally, I enjoy simple pleasures such as cooking, camping, and conversation; and extravagances like vacations abroad.

Finally, I strongly believe in the saying, “Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old they will not depart from it.” So with this, I feel a sense of commitment to the young people I interact with daily. As parent and teacher, we were placed in your child’s life to be partners. So as a part of your child’s developmental team- whether we are speaking academically, socially, or emotionally- I will do my best to fulfill my end of that promise as you maintain position as Head Coach.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know more about me! Should you need to, feel free to contact me anytime through email or a call. Have a great life!
