Sylvandale Middle School, part of the Franklin-McKinley School District, is a learning community committed to academic excellence, equity, and student empowerment. We set high expectations for all students, staff, and administrators, and we work together to ensure that every student experiences success.

At Sylvandale, we focus on providing authentic, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences that prepare students for high school, college, and life beyond. We are building a school culture centered on curiosity, reflection, and responsible action — key foundations for becoming a learning community.

Our goal is to help students develop as thinkers, communicators, and leaders who take pride in their learning and contribute positively to their communities. Through inquiry-based instruction and real-world learning, students explore meaningful questions, connect ideas across subjects, and build the confidence to advocate for themselves and others.

We believe that strong relationships are at the heart of learning. Teachers collaborate across subjects to create supportive, inclusive, and challenging environments where students feel seen, valued, and inspired to grow.
